An 18-year-old Indiana high school senior had this really funny joke in mind. At least it was funny in his mind. Opinions can vary on that point. Seniors often do this sort of thing as their 12th year of formal education winds down.
So he acquired (through means as yet undisclosed) what you might call that traditional companion for the lonely hearted male, the blow-up doll.
He propped it up in a box inside the girls' bathroom, escaped unseen, and waited for the uproarious laughter to begin.
Only it didn't.
Because he wasn't unseen. School officials watching a surveillance video viewed it like this: a hooded figure wearing latex gloves enters a women's bathroom carrying a suspicious package and leaves empty-handed. So they contacted authorities.
Tyell claims it was an innocent senior prank. School officials and the law see it differently.
In spite of the fact that everyone seems to agree on the silly but harmless circumstances, he faces felony charges relating to laws on terrorism that could amount to eight years behind bars.
And in case you're thinking that maybe the young man is getting what he deserves, consider this … if Tyell had brought a gun to school he would be facing three years maximum.

EVERETT, Wash. -- Officers at a Seattle-area police department have found themselves in a flap with some unusual suspects: an angry flock of birds.

Crows have been attacking police in the parking lot of an Everett Police Department precinct station. They've been swooping down and dive-bombing the officers as they walk to and from their cars.

Lt. Bob Johns said he recently was flanked by the aggressive birds and "got zinged."

"They're like velociraptors," Johns said.

One officer used his siren to try to scare away the crows, but it didn't work. The birds responded by decorating his car with droppings, The Daily Herald reported.

State Fish and Wildlife Department biologist Ruth Milner said the birds are simply protecting baby crows that have been kicked out of the nest and are learning to fly. Adult crows are quite protective of their young - a common trait among larger birds and birds of prey.

"All they're doing is defending their nest," Milner said.

She noted crows also can recognize people's individual features. And they hold grudges.

"If your cops have done something that (the crows) perceive as a threat, they could be keying in on them because they're all wearing the same kind of uniform," Milner said.

In addition to the officers, at least a dozen city employees have encountered the angry crows, and some have complained about being attacked, city spokeswoman Kate Reardon said. But she said police and city workers have agreed to let the crows be, and wait out the aggression.

She said the employees will be cautious but can use umbrellas to defend themselves if need be.

Everett is about 25 miles north of Seattle.

Walter Eikrem listened to music on his mobile phone as he often does as he made his way home from school in the southern Norwegian town of Rakkestad earlier this week. The path leading from the stop where he catches the school bus to his family's farmhouse traverses a gently sloping hillside. All of a sudden, he made out something gray on the hillside. "At first, I thought it might have been the neighbor's dogs," he later told TV2, Norway's largest commercial broadcaster. What he actually encountered, though, were four wolves.

"I was afraid they would attack me," Walter told the Norwegian tabloid VG, describing the incident, which took place on Monday. But he didn't let his fear show. Remembering his parents' advice, Walter pulled the earphones out of his mobile phone, turned the volume all the way up and blasted heavy metal music over its miniature speakers. At the same time, he yelled as loud as he could while flailing his arms about wildly to scare off the pack of wild animals.
"The worst thing you can do is run away because doing so just invites the wolves to chase you down," Walter told TV2. "But I was so afraid that I couldn't even run away if I'd wanted to."

Overcoming the Wolves

The plan worked. Eikrem said he was able to drive away the wolves by playing the song "Overcome" by the American hard-rock band Creed. "They didn't really get scared," Walter said. "They just turned around and simply trotted away."

On Wednesday, the local newspaper Rakkestad Avis reported on Walter's encounter with the wolves and even gave his mother a chance to tell her side of the story. She said she had actually intended to pick her son up from school, but got delayed while shopping in Rakkestad and didn't make it on time.

"I have a completely guilty conscience," she told the paper, "because I knew there were wolves in the area. The previous evening, we saw three wolves on the edge of the forest when we were putting our horses in their stall. The horses were panicky."
Even so, at least she had repeated to her children often enough just how they needed to behave if they ran into any wolves. "Just don't run away," she would tell them. "You can even get a little poodle to run after you if you run away, even if it doesn't even actually want to attack you. And the same holds true for wolves."

In the end, the son's memory of her self-defense warnings -- and a little heavy metal -- appears to have saved the day.

I saw this movie last night with some friends and besides the editing at the end of the movie it was terrific. It had this really eerie creepy feel to it and a dark ominous tonal soundtrack that was run over the musical soundtrack which really set the mood. The story was great and really held up well until the last 10 minutes. At that point it felt like the person editing the film went "Oh shit I gotta end this thing quick" and just starting cutting huge chunks out. I mean at the end of the film you understand what was happening but at the time your a little lost. Although I can't complain because if they hadn't cut it I'm sure we would have been at least another hour. Which wouldn't have been that bad thanks to the company.

So besides being kind of a nerd for advertising, i also tend to geek out a bit on packaging. I don''t know if somehow my father's professional life infiltrated his sperm and was passed onto me in conception but for as long as I remember I have loved packaging. I just feel this deep appreciation for the work that goes into designing something that explains a products purpose while at the same time draws you in with its aesthetics. It really is one of the most intelligent forms of art. 1 part looks and 1 part psychology. I have been know on many occasions to purchase things based solely on its advertising and or packaging. Not in a they've got me hooked in as a mindless consumer kind of way but more so a I really appreciate the work and therefore I am going to reward you with my dollars kind of way. Sometimes you just hit a hot streak. In my case its been the last 45 days or so. Everythings coming up Casey. So its no surprise this happened to me the other day.
It was August 14th and I was running late getting up to the motorcycle shop to pick up Nate's bike for the big trip to the Salt Flats. I knew there was going to be a cop at the top of this hill but I just wasn't paying attention and didn't slow down in time. 68 mph in a 45. So he pulls me over and gives me the ticket for every single mile I'm over. That never happens. But he literally write 23 over. $290 ticket. Fuck me right? So he says his goodbyes and starts making his way back to the squad car. Then all the sudden he stops by my back window."OhmyGawd!" Turns around and very quickly comes back to the window. "You like Manchester United?" I told him that I in fact did follow them. "How much do you like them." I showed him my elbow as evidence. "Gimmie that ticket" I hand it over to him and he runs back to his squad car. After a few minutes of confusion he runs back with a new ticket in hand. Explains that he wants to take the ticket and get rid of it all together but since its already in the system the best he can do is drop it to 10 over. But instead of $290 it'll just be $90. After that it just turns into a ManUtd nerd fest. He shows me pictures on his phone of his sweet tribal ManUtd back piece. Wants to talk gossip for a minute then wishes me well and heads on his way. Craziest cop related experience of my life. I guess sometimes it pays to be obsessed with something.

Started thinking the other day about things that define me as a person. You know those outside influences that have shaped me into who I am. What turned mild mannered William Casey MacTavish into the XBigDoggx / xWildCatx. Right at the top of my list has to be Bond.....James Bond. As far back as I can remember I have been watching Bond Films. My dad never cared for films when I was young but for whatever reason he was gonzo for bond and I guess that really stuck with me. Decided I need to get zapped up with something Bond and so in looking for some reference material found a bunch of cool old Ads.

It was a Glacial kind of weekend.

Day 1-Drive Drive Drive ---> Many Glacier. Do summer jobbers know how

to make italian food? Nope.

Day 2-Many all day Many. Got jammed up by the ranger and some priors

at the border. Permits and new camps are go. Shaved 9 miles off kept

40 of them. Fuck Canada anyways.

Day 3-Many Glacier can kiss my ass. 15 miles later I could kiss

Helen's. Top 5 lakes?? Very possible.

Day 4- Goodbye Helen hello Cosley. Beach front property. Very nice. On

the way there stopped by Elizabeth's place to do a little fishing and

practice our primitive skills. 5 minutes in Clints got a fish on the

end of a trekking pole. Mmmmmmm rainbow trout steamed on a rock in

lake water. First speedo outing of the trip right after.

Day 5-RUDY!!!! Cosley lake goodbyes and a short day to MOJ.

Mokawanis??? Junction? Bushwhacking leads to more speedo's and cold

water swimming. Adam created some grey water. Met Rudy the

personification of manliness. Made us feel like wieners. Warmed up for

the CDT trail by competing in an Iron Man. Iron man ---> one month

off----> and then 4.5 months/3000+ miles Mexico to Canada. Nathan's

basement was flooded.

Day 6-MOJ to Gable Creek. Fresh bear tracks along the path. A few day

old cougar tracks. Stopped by our friend Cosley's house for a few

hours to swin and sun on his beach. I hold onto the GXE Glacier Swim

record by not leaving the lake for a good 15 min. Had to make me get

out. Started making a lot of bad decisions. Hiked on to Gable Creek

trying to avoid the looming thunder storm. Made it just in time. Got

really really bored waiting for dinner time. Must of been cold.

Started making bad decisions. Hiked to the river, took pictures, fell

in the river. Burned a hole in a stick. Straight through.XWCX!!! Had a

primitive skills fire starting contest. We all lost. I won the old man

beard finding contest though. Tooooo many bugs trying to eat me .

Went to bed and slept like garbage. Tooooo much wind.

Day 7-Adios Gable hello switch backs. Easy going for the first 5 miles

then a solid mile of switchbacks. God I hate switchbacks. Hello chief

mountain. Talked about Rudy and boom there he was walking twords us.

Had trekking poles with weights taped on so he wouldn't lose too much

upper body while hiking. Fuck me right? Gave him a ride to East

Glacier from the border. Asked him way too many questions about

France. He got scared when clint asked if he was a religious man.

Spilled the beans on europe. No one believes in god there. Learned

about Trail Magic. Guess we're magic. Decided to drive into the night

to West Yellowstone so we might be able to hit the boiling river up

the next day. Late Late arrival. Thought someone was taking care of

business in the same bed as me. Turns out he just shakes when he's

falling asleep.

Day 8-Woke up. Ate breakfast. Boiling River in a lightning hail

storm. Real men type things. Went to Jackson. Like the town hate the

Pho. Hit the road and drove through the night to Salt Lake via

Evanston.

Things I learned- I'm a sensitive soul and or have a Short Fuse, I

really do have a Wild Cat trapped inside me, i talk too much, I pack

toooooo much, and I drive toooo tooooooo crazy.

We were actually talking about this over the weekend and I noticed on MyThoughts that I had posted about it back in 2008. So I thought I'd repost with some new updates to the list.

1.Splash a scalding hot cup of coffee in someones face or Tea. But hot as shit so when it hits the face there is lots of screaming and rubing of the eyes.

2.Have 2 friends hold someones arms while I repeatedly punch them in the stomach.

3."Hey Whats that" punch someone.

4.Put someone in a garbage can ass first so they are stuck.

5.Put a garbage can over someones head.

6.Put my head into their chest like im drunk. Then push them with it and swing for the fences.

7.Tie their shoelaces together and punch them in the eye so the fall back and stumble.

There were about 3 more that I can't remember right now. I'll try to remember and repost them.

Found this in my office. Its from 1996. I know because that's when I picked it up. I was working for Starbucks at the time and we were serving celebs,gratis of course, in the E! Suite on main street in Park City. They gave us all T shirts and Pencils to use at work so we could promote the channel. How I kept a pencil since 1996 is beyond me. I don't think I own a single thing from 1996.

On a side note they also thought it would be a great idea to have a giant tv in our store playing the channel all day. Apparently no one at Starbucks corporate has seen a indie movie before. 5 minutes into that first day a 15 minute male on male sex scene. IN THE BATHTUB! It was serious. Luckily no one complained and we politely explained that it was the Sundance channel and therefore should be viewed as art and not hardcore gay porn. Following days included Clerks,Man Bites Dog, and Sex Lies and Videotape. All appropriate coffee shop material. Top five job weeks ever with stories that could fill these pages for days.

CCTV footage released by police showed the 6ft 2in gunman dressed as the Star Wars bad guy, with a costume complete with mask, dark cape and camouflage trousers.

Customers and bank staff initially thought the raid was a joke, with one witness thinking the costume was so amusing he starting joking with the bandit.

“The customer thought it might have been a joke and not a serious attempt at a robbery,” William Lamb, a Suffolk County Detective Sergeant, told the New York Daily News.

But they quickly realised the bandit was serious after he shouted “this is not a joke”, and reportedly becoming involved in a "shoving match" with an onlooker.

He then pointed his gun at customers as he ordered them to the floor.

He escaped on a motorbike from the Setauket branch with an undisclosed amount of cash stuffed in a bag, which featured a New York Yankees logo.

He assaulted another customer who tried to stop him leaving the bank.

Michael Aloisio, who works at another nearby restaurant, told the New York Post: “I thought it was pretty comical, but I guess this guy was pretty serious about needing some money.

“I always liked 'Star Wars,' but I never liked Darth Vader.”

The robber was still on the run on Friday.

Police admitted it would be difficult to track the gunman because he did not take off his mask at any stage during the bizarre robbery.

Detective Lamb said bank management were still checking to see how much money was taken.

A spokesman for the bank was unavailable for comment.

News of the raid sparked dozens of puns on the hugely successful Hollywood franchise. Some hoped the “Force would be be with him” shortly after he entered “the dark side”.

"The jokes are starting already," one police source told the Post.

"The one where he's back up in the Death Star is the best so far."

The robbery comes about a week after another bizarre bank robbery, where a raider was dubbed the "bouquet bandit”.

Authorities said Edward Pemberton used a flower bouquet to conceal a note demanding cash during a $440 bank heist on a Manhattan bank.

Police said he used a potted plant as a similar prop in a hold-up at another bank earlier this month.

Dramatic security camera pictures have been released of a daring commando-style heist in Sweden last year.

A helicopter was seen delivering masked gunmen to the glass roof of a Swedish cash depot. They smashed their way in and used explosives and a mechanical saw to access the huge sums stored.

A haul equivalent to more than four million euros was then loaded into the helicopter. And it was mission accomplished for last September’s pre-dawn raid in Stockholm as the aircraft took off.

Ten people have been charged in connection with the commando-style robbery. Their trial is due to start next month.

The helicopter was later abandoned outside the Swedish capital. Most of the money has still not been found.

A 28-year-old divorcee with a swanky New York address and Russian roots is emerging as a real-life Bond girl in what the FBI describes as a more than a decade-long spy ring allied to Moscow.

Anna Chapman, who reportedly has a master's degree in economics and runs her own $2 million online real estate business, is one of 10 alleged Russian spies who appeared in federal court Monday. The FBI says she's part of a long-term, deep-cover espionage network trying to infiltrate U.S. policy-making circles and collect information for Moscow.

Her Facebook page's address contains the more Russian first name "Anya" instead of the Americanized "Anna" and is adorned with glamorous, suggestive self-portraits. Many of them are being republished today in the tabloids, with captions calling Chapman a "femme fatale" with a "Victoria’s Secret Body."

One of her status updates from January says, "When you speak the truth, you don't have to remember it." Another says, "My new Mac has been the buy of the year. ... Love it!"

That's likely the same Macintosh laptop referenced in an 18-page court document unsealed Monday, in which the FBI alleges that Chapman sat in a coffee shop in midtown Manhattan and sent secret information to Russian agents in a van passing by outside, using a short-range wireless network.

Every Wednesday, the document alleges, Chapman has been passing such information to her handlers in scenes reminiscent of a James Bond film. It also outlines a meeting Chapman had last weekend with someone whom she allegedly believed was a Russian agent working at the country's consulate in New York -- but who really was an undercover FBI agent.

Pretending to be one of her handlers, the FBI agent instructed Chapman on how to transfer a fake passport to another female spy, authorities said. She was to hold a magazine in a certain way so the other agent would recognize her. When the woman asked her, "Excuse me, but haven't we met in California last summer?" Chapman was to respond in coded language, "No, I think it was the Hamptons."

But Chapman never made the rendezvous, and it's unclear whether that's because she may have become suspicious of the undercover U.S. agent. She was arrested a day later. An Obama administration official told The New York Times that the FBI decided to move in and arrest the suspects quickly, fearing they might try to flee the country.

The court document also says Chapman bought a cell phone under a false name, Irine Kutsov, with the address "99 Fake Street," which she used to make calls to Russia that couldn't be traced to her own name. FBI agents trailing her found the phone contract and charger in a garbage bin, it said.

Chapman is charged with conspiracy to act as an agent of a foreign government without notifying the U.S. attorney general, which carries a maximum penalty of five years in prison.

At her hearing in federal court Monday, Chapman's lawyer, Robert Baum, argued that allegations against his client were exaggerated and said she deserved to be released on bail. "This is not a case that raises issues of security of the United States," he said, according to several news agencies.

But the bail request was denied after federal prosecutor Michael Farbiarz called Chapman a highly trained "Russian agent" and "practiced deceiver" and could try to flee the country if released even temporarily.

Meanwhile, one of Chapman's Facebook friends has posted a story about her arrest on her profile. There's no word on whether she's had Facebook access behind bars.

A few years ago TrevorHale.com and I were chit-chatting about 80's movies and our fondness for them. We started talking zany comedies and how there's a huge sub genre that revolved around tits and alcohol.

Just like lightning it struck me. "If I made an 80's movie it would definitely be called Hot PantsCollege." The more I thought about it the more I was surprised it hadn't been used. So I decided to make it my blog title and if someday TrevorHale.com and I figure out the secret formula to making an 80's movie I'll use it for that. Until then enjoy my insanity. So the other day we were all sitting around and talking about dope movies that not many people have seen. The subject came upon two movies, that in my mind, stand as two of the best movies ever.The Gods must be crazy and The Gods must be crazy 2. First before I go on, if you havnt seen eithier go now and rent them or buy them, if you can find them. Anyways we started talking about these movies, and how good and funny they are, when we came upon a subject that puzzled us all. Do Rhinos really stomp out fires. We all argued for a while and then just moved on. Well its been a week at least and that is still driving me nuts so I did a little research via google. It seems that no one really knows shit about shit. I mean you think that with all the advances in science and animal observation they could figure it out, or run a test, or something. I mean enquiring minds want to know. The closest I got to an answer was this.

There are quite a number of legends about the rhinoceros stamping out fire. The story seems to have been common in Malaysia and Burma.

This type of rhinoceros even had a special name in Malay, 'badak api', where badak means rhinoceros and api means fire. The animal would come when a fire is lit in the forest and stamp it out.

If there is or can be any truth in the legend, it would be hard to decide. Suffice it to say that there has been no sighting of this phenomenon in recent history.

Of course, the rhinoceros in South East Asia has become very rare is hardly ever met nowadays, as it keeps to the deep forest and high mountains.

Well guess what that means nothing. There are also myths about talking piles of crap and monkeys that can drive. So I decided that I would take it upon myself to come up with the definative answer.YES they do. You wanna know why? Cause I saw it. End of story.
